About Trails Church

Welcome to
Trails Church!

Trails is a group of imperfect people who don’t have it all figured out but who are striving together to discover more of Jesus. Our mission is simple: We want to lead people to discover Jesus. Why Jesus? Because we believe that Jesus changes everything. Because of Jesus, we can have peace instead of anxiety. Because of Jesus, we can have hope instead of despair. Because of Jesus, we can have purpose instead of feeling aimless. If you are looking for a community where it’s okay to not be okay, then we would love to connect with you!

We know it’s not always easy trying something new, but what we have found is that when we step out of our comfort zones, great things happen. Don’t keep waiting for normal to try something new. Fill out the Connect Card below and our team will be in touch.

Why the Name Trails?

Originally the site of three Native American trails, the City of Farmington was formed in 1824. These trails—Orchard Lake Trail, Shiawassee Trail and Grand River Trail are now major roads in our community. Naming the church Trails Community Church gives us a bond to our city, our community and our calling.

Our Core Values

we love Jesus — Luke 10:27

we love Jesus— Luke 10:27

The purpose of Trails Community is to lead people to discover Jesus. We are Jesus people, because Jesus changes everything! If we can get this value right, all the other values will fall into place.

we seek God's truth — 2 Timothy 3:16-17

we seek God's truth— 2 Timothy 3:16-17

In a world where truth often is relative, we believe that God’s truth (his written word) is ultimate. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and is fully inspired, without error. We love and cherish God’s word, for it nourishes us daily and instructs us on all things necessary for salvation, life and righteousness—therefore, we actively seek it out.

we rely on prayer — Philippians 4:6

we rely on prayer— Philippians 4:6

Prayer is our personal and corporate communion with God that expresses and increases our trust in him. God commands us to pray, and always uses our prayers to do far more than we could ask or imagine. We pray to get God, not get God’s things — He is our highest goal, prize and treasure who can be trusted no matter what.

we do life together — Psalm 133:1

we do life together— Psalm 133:1

We are created to be in community. Therefore, we want to be a people who lay aside preferences for the greater cause and mission of following Jesus. We believe that we are better together in every area of life. Whether this is a formal gathering or just doing life together, we believe life together provides a powerful way for us to grow in our faith and in Christian community.

we serve those around us — Romans 12:9-13

we serve those around us— Romans 12:9-13

As we discover Jesus, one of our greatest areas of impact can be when we serve each other. Jesus charged us by reminding us of His own mission: not to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28). With this in mind, we want to be a church that reaches our neighborhood, community, city and world through service.

we give generously — 2 Corinthians 9:7

we give generously— 2 Corinthians 9:7

Jesus demonstrated the greatest way to be generous is with our life. We know that we will never look more like Jesus than when we are being generous – with our time, talent and treasure. Therefore, we want to be people who give generously.

we live on mission  — Matthew 28:19-20

we live on mission — Matthew 28:19-20

God has designed each person with intentionality and purpose. In Matthew 28:19-20, we get to peer in and see what that purpose entails and do everything we can to live it out. Therefore, we want to be people who live in radical obedience to love God, love people and make disciples.
